Winter Update

The Board met in January to plan upcoming programs. Marj Albright of Grafton is leading the group that is updating our “Guide to Running for Local Office in Grafton” and a workshop is planned for February 11 at 7:30 p.m. Our study committee on the Study of the State Ballot Question Process in Massachusetts has scheduled a Consensus Meeting for February 6 at 7:00 p.m. We are also planning our March pot-luck and hope to have this on March 10. Our speaker will give us an update on current Immigration

Paula Lea, Kristin Rainey and Marj Albright recently met with an administrator of the Grafton Public Schools to talk about civics education. The meeting was very productive and more meetings are planned for the future. Missy Hollenbeck is working with the National Honor Society at the Shrewsbury High School on a Civics Bee. Shrewsbury is also creating a Guide to Running for Local Office in Shrewsbury and will see that this
information is available for their candidates.

The board discussed programs regarding the History of the Women’s Suffrage Movement and the 100 th Anniversary of the League of Women Voters. We will be forming a committee to work on this soon.

Both Grafton and Shrewsbury will be holding Candidates Nights in April for the upcoming local elections in May. More details will be coming about these events.
